The decisions taken by Ravi Teja for his upcoming Sankranti release Bhartha Mahasayulaku Wignyapthi (BMW) mark a crucial turning point in his career. For the first time in many years, Ravi Teja will appear on screen without the popular “Mass Maharaja” tag before his name. This signals a clear shift in the actor’s mindset and approach toward cinema.
For a long time, Ravi Teja believed that audiences expected only mass content from him. That assumption pushed him toward films packed with forced action, loud characterization, and exaggerated heroism.
Unfortunately, this approach resulted in massive disasters like Mass Jathara and Khiladi. There was a time when even a flop Ravi Teja film guaranteed solid footfalls, at least for the first few days. However, in recent years, even opening day shows struggled to get decent footfalls, which clearly indicated that something needed to change.
With Bhartha Mahasayulaku Wignyapthi, Ravi Teja seems to have accepted reality and moved toward practical thinking. Another big talking point is Ravi Teja’s remuneration decision. Known for being extremely firm about his fees, the actor reportedly did not take a single rupee as upfront payment for this film.
Producer Sudhakar Cherukuri confirmed that Ravi Teja chose to start the film without remuneration. His only condition was releasing the film during Sankranti. The team planned this project specifically as a festive family entertainer, believing that Sankranti audiences prefer family entertainers with ample comedy.
By dropping his tag and stepping away from guaranteed remuneration, Ravi Teja has placed a strong bet on this film. If Bhartha Mahasayulaku Wignyapthi delivers at the box office, the comeback will be memorable, especially given the heavy competition during Sankranti. If it fails, it could become a decisive chapter in Ravi Teja’s career, potentially changing his future trajectory forever. All eyes on its release date, January 13.
