This Dasara season, three biggies – Bhagavanth Kesari, Leo(dubbed) and Tiger Nagewswara Rao released in theatres. While Bhagavanth obviously pulled in substantially more revenues than the other two, Leo broke even with its low target. TNR went nowhere at the box office.
TNR had the opportunity of going for an early release as the golden September 28 slot was vacated by Salaar. But the makers stuck to the October 20 release and in the end, it ended up getting beaten by the dubbed film, Leo even in the Telugu states.
Now, Ravi Teja is coming again for the next festival season as his Eagle is up for release next Sankranthi. And again, there is intense competition here.
Guntur Kaaram will be the obvious favorite for the audience, it being a proper festival film marking the coming together of Mahesh and Trivikram, two huge brands amongst family audiences.
And then, there’s Vijay Deverakonda’s Family Star which is also aimed at the family audience and festival crowds.
Ravi Teja is coming with Eagle, a supposed slick actioner that isn’t necessarily a Sankranthi film. Clashing with the other two prospective films which have festival appeal could be a fatal move for Eagle as the other two are better suited for the conditions then.
If Dasara season taught Ravi Teja any valuable lesson, he is better off picking some other release slot for Eagle in order to extract the best theatrical prospects for his film.
