When a government allows guns to be easily accessible, similar to candy in grocery stores, the consequences can be disastrous. This is America now, which was once considered a big brother and superpower.
100 days into 2023, there have been 146 mass shootings and 15th mass killings according to a non-profit organization that tracks such incidents. The deadliest incident occurred on January 21st in Monterey Park, California, where a gunman killed 11 people and wounded nine others at a dance hall.
Nowadays, it has become a routine for news to break about active shooters in elementary, high schools or in a University campus in the U.S.
Previously, gas stations and highways were targeted, but now these incidents often occur in schools, where children become victims and cause panic. The next targets are usually shopping malls and crowded places, such as beaches.
Not just the Telugu community, but the entire Indian community in the U.S. is panicking about this growing culture of shootings, as they are not used to handling or seeing guns directly.
Some Telugu families are aware of the situation and avoid certain shopping malls and pubs on weekends. Unfortunately, no one can predict when or where a psychopath will begin shooting, as the shooter usually takes their own life at the end.
