AIG, Asian Institute of Gastroenterology, has received approval to establish a world class healthcare, education and research centre in Visakhapatnam. The facility will come up on 9.04 acres of land allotted in Yendada, marking a major medical investment in Vizag.
The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet cleared the proposal, with AIG agreeing to pay Rs 5 crore per acre. While the hospital had requested a larger parcel at a lower cost, the government allotted the land strictly at the prevailing market rate.
The upcoming super speciality hospital will have 800 beds and is among the largest healthcare facilities in the country. It will house eight centres of excellence and offer integrated medical services along with advanced research facilities.
Key focus areas include medical and surgical gastroenterology, liver sciences, organ transplant, pulmonary sciences, renal sciences, oncology, cardiac sciences, and obesity and metabolic therapy. AIG is also widely known for its consistent contributions to medical research.
The hospital is expected to significantly benefit patients across uttarandhra. The Andhra Pradesh government continues to focus on strengthening healthcare infrastructure, and this allotment is seen as a step towards improving access to advanced treatment in the region.
