The Andhra Pradesh government has decided to permanently dismiss 43 government doctors from their jobs due to long, unauthorised absences.
Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav announced that some of these doctors, including specialists in general medicine, orthopedics, and gynecology, had been missing from their duties for up to four years.
The health department had previously issued formal show-cause notices and official charges to these medical professionals.
Because they failed to respond or give any explanation for their long absence, the government initiated strict termination procedures under state service rules.
According to official records, a total of 118 permanent doctors were found to be missing from duty without permission. Following the government’s strict warning, 34 doctors submitted their resignations, while 9 others quickly rejoined their duties.
The government is now conducting formal inquiries to check the cases of those who resigned after charges were filed.
This major decision marks the second major cleanup drive by the state health ministry in the last two months. Just last month, the government permanently removed 51 doctors from various teaching hospitals for similar reasons.
The Health Minister emphasised that the government has a zero-tolerance policy for negligence and will not allow unauthorised absences to hurt public healthcare services.
