Five Quintals of Rotten Chicken Seized

With cases of bird flu in Telangana and neighbouring Andhra Pradesh, the food safety officials have carried out raids on various chicken shops.

Today, they raided shops in Rasoolpura’s Anna Nagar area. In the raids, lots of rotten chicken was seized. It is estimated that 5 quintals of rotten chicken was stored in the shops.

The chicken was being sold to wine shops, bars and fastfood centers at cheap rates. It was found that chemicals were added to the chicken and stored in cold storages for three months.

It was also found that highly dangerous Formalin was being used for storage. The chemicals being used are more dangerous than bird flu, the officials say.

Following Revanth Reddy becoming the CM, the food safety officials have been raiding various eateries, big and small, and checking for violations. The raids are being conducted on regular basis.

The officials have found unhygienic conditions, products without labels, rodent infestation, stagnant water, open bins and other violations in many places.

Despite taking stringent action, the eateries continue to violate norms as was the case in Anna Nagar. In the past, the officials raided shops in Anna Nagar and cancelled licenses of shops. But the shops were back in action after a short while.
