The political divide within the Kalvakuntla family has moved from internal friction to open public warfare. Former MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha has leveled serious financial and media manipulation allegations against her brother and BRS Working President, KTR.
In a series of public declarations, Kavitha claimed that KTR expanded his media footprint into English journalism by purchasing the historic newspaper, The Pioneer, for a staggering ₹188 crores.
According to Kavitha, this massive acquisition follows years of the family managing its regional Telugu mouthpiece, Namasthe Telangana. She alleged that the transition into English print media is a strategic move to build an influential, national-level narrative platform for the BRS.
However, rather than viewing this as a standard party expansion, Kavitha openly warned the public to look at the publication with skepticism. She explicitly told followers not to trust the newspaper going forward, stating that its editorial independence is entirely compromised now that it operates under BRS control.
This public confrontation marks a historic low point in the relationship between the siblings, following Kavitha’s departure from the BRS to establish her own political outfit, the Telangana Rashtra Sena (TRS).
While KTR and the BRS leadership have previously downplayed her political moves as temporary distractions, Kavitha’s direct targeting of her brother’s alleged ₹188 crore media buyout takes the conflict to a highly personal level.
Political observers note that by publicly exposing these alleged financial transactions, Kavitha is actively working to dismantle KTR’s credibility, presenting a major operational challenge for the BRS as it attempts to maintain party unity.

“ఇక అది @BRSparty పేపర్… నమ్మొద్దు!”
