Google is setting up a 1-GW Data Center in Vishakapatnam. This is the biggest AI-Hub of Google outside the United States.
The announcement was made at an event in New Delhi by Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurien in the presence of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Minister Nara Lokesh, and Others.
The facility will integrate AI infrastructure, data centers, renewable energy capacity, and a new subsea gateway, marking the first gigawatt-scale data center campus in the country, Google said in a release.
The five-year project (2026–2030) is expected to create over 1 lakh jobs.
Union Ministers Nirmala Sitharaman and Ashwini Vaishav who were present at the event were in all praise for the NDA Government. They were more into saying how Narendra Modi Government’s Policies ensured that this AI Hub come to Vishakapatnam.
There was a mention of Naidu and Lokesh too but on expected lines it is more about the Narendra Modi Government’s Policies.
Interestingly, even the Chief Minister is in all praise of the Prime Minister. He was talking about how the Modi Government is different and proactive and the Prime Minister is leading the country in the path of development.
It is understandable that there will be protocols in place when an event is happening in the Capital. The Union Ministers belonging to the BJP will obviously speak about their leadership.
But Lokesh and his team deserves more credit for pulling off a project of this magnitude.
In just over an year, the IT Minister brought TCS, Cognizant, and Google to Vishakapatnam. This is a remarkable feat which no other IT Minister across the country can match.
Lokesh definitely deserves better visibility for all the good work he has done.
At least Chandrababu Naidu should have done that.
That kind of visibility is very necessary for a budding Political Leader. Naidu should know that better than others.
Moreover, Lokesh is more than deserving.
