Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has signed a landmark deal with Google to set up a 1 GW hyperscale data center in Vizag. The agreement was formalised at an event held at Taj Mansingh, New Delhi, in the presence of Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Union IT and Communications Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, and AP IT Minister Nara Lokesh.

Google’s $15 billion investment will turn Vizag into India’s next big AI-powered technology hub. The project, spread across five years, is expected to generate 1,88,220 jobs and earn the state Rs 10,518 crore in revenue between 2028 and 2032.

According to estimates, Google Cloud-based operations from the Vizag center will contribute about Rs 9,553 crore annually, adding up to Rs 47,720 crore in five years.

Speaking at the event titled Bharat AI Shakti, Naidu recalled his earlier success in bringing Microsoft to Hyderabad. “Now, I’m bringing Google to Vizag,” he said. Emphasising the importance of emerging technologies, Naidu urged India to embrace AI, digital connectivity, data centers, and real-time data systems.

“The slogan for the future is not hard work but smart work,” he added, calling this partnership a defining step in making Andhra Pradesh a leader in AI innovation and digital infrastructure.
