Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan has issued a stern warning to political leaders across the state, asserting that political criticism must remain strictly focused on public policy rather than devolving into personal, misogynistic attacks.
The Deputy Chief Minister’s statement comes in the wake of highly objectionable remarks made by a former minister from the opposition camp targeting State Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha.
The opposition leader’s comments, which specifically scrutinised and criticised the Home Minister’s attire, have drawn widespread condemnation from various sections of society.
Condemning the remarks in no uncertain terms, Pawan Kalyan stated that the opposing party has stooped to a degrading level by targeting a woman leader’s clothing.
He emphasised that such derogatory commentary does not happen in isolation, it directly insults and demeans every ordinary woman in society. He reminded those in public life that civil society closely observes every word spoken by political figures.
Shifting his focus to the leaders of the ruling TDP-JSP-BJP alliance, the Deputy Chief Minister offered key strategic advice on how to handle such provocations.
He urged alliance members to refrain from retaliating with similarly degrading language, stating that the alliance has no need for baseless remarks or substandard rhetoric.
Instead, Pawan Kalyan instructed alliance leaders to counter the opposition by clearly explaining to the public exactly how objectionable and shameful the content of the opposition’s remarks truly is.
He concluded by calling on all ruling coalition leaders to maintain a dignified vocabulary that resonates positively with civil society while delivering strong, fact-based counters to political opponents.
