Chandrababu Naidu Government is planning to restart 183 canteens by August. There were 203 Anna Canteens in operation in Andhra Pradesh until Jagan Mohan Reddy came to power in 2019. The remaining 20 canteens will be opened subsequently.
The buildings constructed by the previous TDP government for Anna Canteens now need an overhaul due to disuse. Some of them could be readily used but some were found to be unfit for use.
In our society, Food donation to the needy is considered the most sacred deed and so, the Government is planning to bring people participation in this initiative.
In Kuppam the other day, Chandrababu Naidu announced that they will very soon start a trust for Anna Canteens.
People can take up the food donation for a day in the Anna Canteen of their choice. They can even do it for the whole state for their special occasions like Birthdays, Anniversaries, etc.
The photo and message of the donor will be displayed at the Anna Canteens on the day of the donation.
The donor can connect to Anna Canteen organizers on the phone and can even go and serve food that day.
This is a very good idea by the Government as more people will come forward to participate.
The scheme will be a huge success. No person would go hungry if the initiative is expanded with public participation.
The Government can also set up donation boxes at every Canteen for people to donate.
There can be Digital Boards for advertising which can bring more revenue to the Government. The Government should also explore the option of getting Tax Exemption for donations made to Anna Canteens Trust.
Politicians should be motivated to donate to the cause. Also, someone like Pawan Kalyan or the film celebrities should endorse the cause encouraging people’s participation. Also, the Government should motivate the Corporate companies to use their CSR funds for this scheme.
The companies can be motivated to adopt a few Anna Canteens.
If executed properly, this scheme can be a massive success and the biggest flagship scheme of Chandrababu Naidu’s Government with very less burden on the state exchequer.
