The selection of candidates for the Eluru and Narasapuram Lok Sabha seats and assembly constituencies in the TDP-BJP-Janasena alliance is nearing completion.
Bhupathiraju Srinivasa Varma has been chosen as the candidate for the Narasapuram Lok Sabha seat, despite expectations that sitting MP Kanumuri Raghuramakrishna Raju would secure the nomination.
RRR expressed disappointment over not being chosen to contest, attributing his exclusion to Chief Minister Jagan’s interference.
RRR’s political journey gained visibility in the lead-up to the 2019 elections when he contested as a YSRCP candidate after switching parties from TDP.
He openly criticized Chief Minister Jagan’s policies both within and outside Parliament, facing retaliation from the YSRCP, including arrest and physical assault.
Despite his confrontations with the YSRCP, RRR refrained from criticizing the BJP government.
He used to conduct regular Rachhabanda from Delhi and lashed out YS Jagan without fail. People are used to watch his program every day in afternoon.
RRR irritates YS Jagan by making complaints to legal bodies on AP govt’s irregularities.
He maintained close ties with BJP leaders and anticipated receiving the Narsapuram ticket from the BJP as part of the alliance.
However, the nomination was granted to the Bhupathiraju family instead, prompting RRR to consider running as an independent candidate.
His potential candidacy as an independent could significantly impact the election dynamics, potentially leading to BJP’s loss in Narsapuram, where Raghuramakrishna Raju commands significant support from both TDP and Janasena cadres.
BJP got just 1.1% of votes in Narsapuram which is very negligible % in 2019 General Elections. For getting victory BJP needs 40% of votes transfer from TDP & JS in Narsapuram.
The final decision on RRR’s candidacy is awaited, with speculation that he may contest as an independent after the nomination withdrawal period concludes.
His candidacy carries weight in Narsapuram, where he could secure victory with the support of TDP and Janasena cadres, posing a significant challenge to BJP’s electoral prospects in the constituency.
