Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has triggered a fresh political row with a sharp, satirical attack on the Central government’s infrastructure priorities.
While aggressively pushing for the long-delayed approvals and financial clearances for Hyderabad’s Metro Phase-II expansion, the Chief Minister took a direct dig at the center by using a striking geographical comparison that quickly went viral across regional political circles.
Revanth Reddy mocked the Central government by comparing Hyderabad to Visakhapatnam. He stated that combining just two of Hyderabad’s busiest areas, Jubilee Hills and Madhapur, equals the entire size of a city like Vizag. He pointed out the irony of the Center quickly approving a massive metro project for a city of that size while delaying crucial metro files for Hyderabad’s main economic zones.
The sharp commentary is part of an escalating war of words between the ruling Congress in Telangana and Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy. Revanth Reddy accused the local BJP leadership of deliberately blocking central funds and clearances for the city’s suburban, airport, and IT corridor metro lines to sabotage regional development.
By framing the bureaucratic gridlock through a highly relatable geographical scale, the Chief Minister is attempting to build a strong public narrative of regional partiality ahead of the upcoming municipal corporation elections.
