Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy’s son and YCP’s Chandragiri MLA candidate, Chevireddy Mohith Reddy, filed a petition in the Supreme Court, requesting scrutiny of Form 17A and other documents of the constituency. He also requested a repolling in four polling stations.
Mohith Reddy alleged there were irregularities, ballot tampering and physical violence during the polling at these four polling booths, and requested a repolling. He stated that these irregularities happened under the supervision of the TDP leaders and agents.
Initially, Mohith filed a petition in the AP High Court. However, the High Court dismissed the petition upon hearing it. Later, Mohit went to the Supreme Court and his petition was heard today.
The Supreme Court’s bench of Justice Aravind Kumar and Justice Sandeep Mehta heard the case. Upon examining Mohith’s petition, they stated that the Supreme Court cannot interfere in this matter, as per Article 136. They stated that there are not enough reasons in this case for the Supreme Court to intervene.
Thus, the magistrate refused to order repolling in the mentioned polling stations, delivering a setback to Chevireddy Mohit Reddy.
This is the first time Mohit is contesting in the elections, as the successor of his father Bhaskar Reddy, who is the incumbent MLA of Chandragiri.
Mohit is contesting against TDP’s candidate Pulivarthi Nani. As the Supreme Court refused to order repolling, Mohit’s fate will be decided in the counting tomorrow.
