Southern Regional Load Despatch Center (SRLDC), the apex body to ensure integrated operation of the power system in the Southern India had asked the Andhra Pradesh government to maintain status quo in the ongoing Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) cancellation. In reply to the letter of Andhra Pradesh government to allot power according to geographical location, SRLDC clarified that post June 2nd, it is delivering power according to the Andhra Pradesh State Reorganization bill and any changes now should get a clarification from the center.
Earlier, Telangana government wrote the center that Andhra Pradesh government’s move is against the clauses in the bifurcation bill. On the other side, AP government says the allotments are detrimental to AP’s interests and there is no wrong in cancelling the PPAs and it is full in accordance to the law. If AP goes on with this decision, 462 Mega Watts of power scarcity will occur in Telangana. So,the government has decided to purchase 350 Mega Watts of power from NTPC just in case needed.
