A recent dancing video meme of Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee went viral. The Bengal police, under Mamata di’s guidance, initiated a hunt for the creator.
However, on Monday evening, one of the social media influencers posted a similar meme with PM Modi dancing. Surprisingly, Modi appreciated the creativity behind the meme featuring him dancing.
PM Modi took to social media (X/Twitter) to express his enjoyment of the meme, praising the creativity during the peak of the election season.
He wrote, “Like all of you, I also enjoyed seeing myself dance. Such creativity in peak poll season is truly a delight! #PollHumour”
In contrast, the Kolkata Police demanded the immediate disclosure of the creator’s identity in response to the meme featuring Mamata Banerjee, warning of legal consequences if not complied with.
People on social media largely criticized the Bengal police’s actions, contrasting them with PM Modi’s reaction.
Many pointed out that PM Modi has faced numerous jokes and memes without similar legal threats.
One meme even cheekily referenced this difference, implying that criticizing “THE DICTATOR” (Modi was called a dictator by Dhruv Rathee) would not lead to arrest.
Elections in India have been marked by humor and satire, initially through cartoons and now through memes on social media.
However, such expression often faces crackdowns, as seen in various legal actions taken against individuals for content targeting political figures like Bal Thackeray, Jayalalithaa, and Mamata Banerjee herself.
Like all of you, I also enjoyed seeing myself dance.
Such creativity in peak poll season is truly a delight! #PollHumour https://t.co/QNxB6KUQ3R
