In a rather shocking and unfortunate incident, a young Indian student, Satwinder Singh (28), succumbed to the injuries sustained during a shooting rampage in Canada. The incident also claimed two other lives, including that of a police constable.
Singh was injured last Monday in the shooting in Milton. He died at the Hamilton General Hospital with his friends and family by his side.
Satwinder Singh, an Indian international student, was working part-time at MK Auto Repairs at the time of the shooting.
The shocking incident resulted in the deaths of Shakeel Ashraf (38), a mechanic, and Toronto Police Constable Andrew Hong (48).
The gunman, identified as Sean Petrie (40), was later shot dead by Hamilton police.
Singh’s grieving father had not seen his son since the start of the pandemic. He works as a truck driver in Dubai.
The online GoFundMe page honored Singh who had been on life support and had been declared brain-dead. The page described Singh as a “loving son, brother, and grandson who will be missed daily.”
The GoFundMe campaign raised over 35,000 dollars to help in returning his body to India.
Satwinder Singh obtained an MBA in marketing in India and was a Conestoga College student.
The shooting erupted last Monday in Mississauga around 2 pm, when Constable Hong, who was on his lunch break at a Tim Hortons, was shot dead at close range.
