YS Raja Reddy, son of YS Sharmila, has become the political newsmaker of the day in Andhra Pradesh. His public appearance today has sparked widespread discussion and speculation.
In the morning, Raja Reddy accompanied his mother, YS Sharmila, to the Kurnool Onion Market. Sharmila was there to protest against the steep fall in onion prices and the state government’s lack of response.
Before their departure, Raja Reddy took the blessings of his grandmother, YS Vijayalakshmi. The visuals were shared with the media, triggering talk about a potential political entry.
At the market, Sharmila made a key announcement her son would enter politics at the right time, when the situation demands. Raja Reddy was also seen wearing the Congress scarf and standing beside his mother.
This statement has given rise to fresh political speculation. Many believe that Raja Reddy’s emergence might be one of the key reasons behind the fallout between Sharmila and her brother, Andhra Pradesh CM Jagan Mohan Reddy.
It is well-known that Sharmila was sidelined by Jagan after being actively used in his absence. The family has also faced disputes over property, which deepened the rift.
Observers are now wondering if Jagan felt threatened by Raja Reddy’s potential rise. Since the CM does not have a male child, some suspect he was reluctant to allow Sharmila into politics, fearing Raja might be seen as a natural heir.
Though it may sound far-fetched, politics often mirrors patriarchal values. Gender-based power struggles remain a reality in regional politics.
Raja Reddy’s future in Congress will be closely watched, especially as the party continues to face serious challenges in Andhra Pradesh.
Similar dynamics were seen in Telangana politics as well. KCR reportedly kept his daughter Kavitha away from the Assembly to make way for his son, KTR. She was even suspended from the party at one point.
It remains to be seen whether Raja Reddy will emerge as a key player in Congress or remain in the shadows of internal party struggles and family politics.
