Shocking Honeytrap Bride: 8 Husbands, Crores Looted

Honeytrap bride scam

Sameera Fatima, a 35-year-old woman from Nagpur, has been arrested for allegedly deceiving eight men into marriage and blackmailing them for large sums of money. Her story has sparked concerns about emotional manipulation and growing matrimonial frauds on digital platforms.

Targeting wealthy, married Muslim men through Facebook and matrimonial sites, Sameera posed as a widowed or divorced mother. She used fabricated emotional backstories to earn sympathy and trust. Once married, she would gather compromising materials and later extort money by threatening to file false legal cases.

Her latest victim, Ghulam Pathan, filed a complaint after reportedly losing close to ₹50 lakh. Some victims paid as much as ₹15 lakh each. Reports reveal that several of the duped men held prestigious roles, including positions at the Reserve Bank of India, making this case even more shocking.

Sameera had been absconding for over a year. On July 29, she was caught during a sting operation at a café in Nagpur while allegedly targeting her ninth victim. The trap was set with assistance from her current husband and the local police, finally ending her run.

Authorities suspect that Sameera was part of a wider network that uses fabricated emotional scenarios and legal intimidation to trap men. Her tactics ranged from faking pregnancies to filing false complaints, all designed to escape arrest and extract financial settlements.

This disturbing case underscores how easily trust can be exploited online. What looked like failed marriages were in fact a calculated con—an emotional investment scam with zero risk and high reward. As digital matchmaking becomes more common, public awareness and digital vigilance are more important than ever.
