Teacher Marries Student in Classroom

A video of a female professor at Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT), West Bengal, performing wedding rituals with a first-year student inside a classroom has sparked outrage.

Dressed as a bride, she engaged in traditional Bengali wedding customs, including sindoor daan and mala bodol, leaving many questioning the appropriateness of such an act in an academic setting.

The professor defended herself, claiming it was a psycho-drama demonstration for educational purposes. However, the justification raises concerns.

Couldn’t the same concept have been explained without an actual wedding reenactment? Was there informed consent from the student? The university has launched an inquiry and sent both the professor and student on leave until further notice.

In today’s digital age, where classroom activities can easily go viral, educators need to be mindful of their teaching methods. The incident has not only embarrassed the institution but also raised concerns about professionalism in academia.
