India Legend Bashes Surya: Claiming Rohit’s Record?

Mohammad Kaif criticises Suryakumar Yadav

Former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif has strongly criticised Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav following India’s heavy loss to South Africa. Kaif took issue with Surya’s remarks during the post-match press conference.

After the defeat, Suryakumar Yadav said the team should not be judged harshly as it was their first loss in the World Cup. This comment did not go down well with Kaif.

Kaif reminded the Indian captain that the winning record being mentioned was not achieved under his leadership. He pointed out that the earlier victories belonged to a different setup.

“Saying this is our first defeat in the World Cup is a different thing. Let me tell you, there was a different management when the record was made. There was Rahul Dravid and Rohit Sharma,” Kaif said.

He further stated that Suryakumar Yadav had no role in those World Cup achievements. Kaif added that the record being discussed was created by someone else.

Following Kaif’s comments, many fans came out in support of his view. They accused Surya of trying to take credit for past World Cup victories.

Some fans also pointed out that Suryakumar Yadav was not part of the squad during the Champions Trophy. They felt his statements showed misplaced ownership of past successes.

However, a section of supporters defended the Indian captain. They argued that leadership works on continuation logic and a current captain can reference past team achievements.

They added that victories belong to the Indian team as a whole, not just individual players or captains.

Despite the debate, many agree that the focus must now shift to performance. The Indian team needs to put aside distractions and concentrate on the upcoming match against Zimbabwe.

A strong win is crucial to restore confidence. The aim will be to bounce back with a convincing victory and regain momentum in the tournament.
