Vaibhav Suryavanshi continues to show why he is one of the brightest young talents in cricket. From T20s to Tests, his bat makes an impact every time. In Australia, he proved it again with a stunning youth Test century.
Century in Brisbane youth Test
On Wednesday, during the first India U19 vs Australia U19 youth Test at Ian Healy Oval in Brisbane, Suryavanshi smashed a century in just 78 balls. He reached the milestone with a six and a four, leaving bowlers struggling.
Second fastest youth Test century
This knock is now the second fastest century in youth Test history. Only Ayush Mhatre’s 64-ball hundred against England ranks ahead. Suryavanshi’s aggressive stroke play underlined his maturity well beyond his age.
Youngest to score in Australia
At 14 years and 188 days, Suryavanshi became the youngest player to score a century in a youth Test in Australia. He is also the first under-15 cricketer to score a fifty and take wickets in the same youth Test.
Shutting down early doubts
Despite early trolling from some fans who compared him to Prithvi Shaw, Suryavanshi has silenced critics. His consistent numbers, coupled with big-match temperament, highlight that he is ready for higher honours in the years ahead.
Matching Brendon McCullum’s feat
Suryavanshi has now scored two youth Test centuries in under 100 balls, matching New Zealand legend Brendon McCullum. Achieving such a record at this age shows his natural flair and hunger for runs across formats.
Rising star beyond youth cricket
Beyond youth Tests, Suryavanshi already has IPL experience with Rajasthan Royals earlier this year. His all-round performances mark him as a rising star in world cricket, with many more milestones waiting in his journey.
