Blame Game: Mani, Shankar, Kamal Equally at Fault

Mani Ratnam Shankar Kamal Haasan Equally at Fault

Kamal Haasan’s highly anticipated Thug Life, directed by Mani Ratnam, was finally released in theaters yesterday and has received disastrous responses from audiences.

Thug Life had huge anticipation among audiences since its announcement, as Mani Ratnam and Kamal Haasan collaborated on this project after 38 years, following their cult classic Nayakan.

However, after watching Thug Life, viewers are disappointed and are now trashing Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam on social media for delivering a poor, usual revenge drama.

Consequently, after Thug Life, many people started raising questions about whether Kamal Haasan has now lost his skills in cinema, as previously, when he collaborated with another legendary director, Shankar, for Indian 2, it also ended up as a terrible disaster.

Now, with Thug Life also turning out to be a below-average movie, Kamal Haasan, who is referred to as the “god of Tamil cinema,” seems to have lost his vision. As a senior artist, he reportedly couldn’t even grasp the basics of these scripts.

Both Shankar and Mani Ratnam are celebrated as legendary directors and have a huge legacy in Kollywood. However, both of them delivered their career’s biggest disasters with Kamal Haasan, as Indian 2 and now Thug Life are considered worse than their previous below-average movies, according to Kollywood audiences.

Lokesh Kanagaraj opened up a huge market for Kamal Haasan with the success of Vikram, which became an industry hit. But after Vikram, Kamal Haasan’s Indian 2 and now Thug Life have turned out to be major disasters.

The failures of these movies are now the most heated debate on social media, with people debating whether the cause lies with legendary directors Mani Ratnam and Shankar, or with Kamal Haasan.
