70 Cr at Risk: Poor Bookings Spell Trouble for Dulquer?

Dulquer Salmaan‘s anticipated film I’m Game directed by Nahas Hidhayath, is all set to hit the screens tomorrow (September 3rd). With only a few hours left until the release, the pre-bookings for the film are now happening in full swing.

Since its announcement, I’m Game has been projected as the costliest film from the Malayalam industry. Additionally, because director Nahas Hidhayath’s last film RDX, was a huge success, I’m Game has decent expectations among the audience.

However, according to reports, the pre-bookings for I’m Game are very poor in many centers and it is struggling to sustain the initial stage. As of now, the Day-1 pre-sales for I’m Game have only crossed 1.55 crores worldwide, which is very low by Dulquer Salmaan’s standards.

In response to the poor pre-bookings for I’m Game, many trackers on social media are suggesting that the average trailer was the major reason for these dull bookings. They note that Dulquer Salmaan himself has stated that the team purposely underplayed the trailer to hide the supernatural factor in the film, which backfired on the film’s opening-day collections.

They also suggest that since the recently released Bethlehem Kudumba Unit is doing a rampage at the box office, the audience’s entire focus is currently on it and the makers of I’m Game have failed to create hype with the poor promotion strategies.

Additionally, they claim that the success of I’m Game now solely relies on positive word of mouth from the audience and if I’m Game receives mixed responses, there is a strong possibility it will crash at the box office.

I’m Game was made with a massive budget of 70 crores and because of the dull pre-bookings, the film now runs a huge risk of ending up as a terrible loss venture. Therefore, it remains to be seen whether I’m Game satisfies the expectations of the audience and emerges as a successful venture with super positive word of mouth upon its release tomorrow.
