The Indian government is alleged to have issued orders to take action against certain accounts and posts on Elon Musk’s X, formerly known as Twitter. The claims have not yet received a response from the Indian government.
The business expressed disapproval of the action in a post on X’s Global Government Affairs, contending that posts ought not to be suppressed on the pretext of protecting free speech.
Indians revealed X’s anti-Indian views a few weeks ago, and now Elon Musk responds, “Yeah,” to a post calling India a “Third World” nation. It is a disparaging statement, even if rape is abhorred worldwide.
It did, however, declare that it would abide by the directive from the Indian government and withhold these accounts and posts within India. The business argues that these positions should be subject to the freedom of expression.
Executive orders have been issued by the Indian government compelling X to take action on particular accounts and posts, or face severe consequences, including jail time and large fines.
X says that these posts should be protected by the freedom of expression, but he will only withhold these accounts and posts in India. Both a writ appeal against the blocking orders and a petition contesting the government’s order are still ongoing.
