South Korean singer Soyou has received an official apology from Delta Airlines after accusing the crew of racist behaviour on her October 2025 flight from New York to Seoul. The airline admitted fault after reviewing her complaint.
Hostility During Long Flight
Soyou said a simple question about meal timing turned tense when the purser allegedly behaved rudely, called security, and treated her differently for the rest of the 15-hour flight. She claimed the cold attitude made it hard for her to eat or rest.
Written Complaint and Apology
Before landing, Soyou submitted a written complaint describing the incident. Delta later sent an email apology acknowledging her grievance and promising to review the matter.
Rumours and Legal Action
Soon after, false online rumours accused her of being drunk during the flight. Soyou denied the claims and announced plans to take legal action against those spreading lies about her.
Deeper Issues in Airline Conduct
While Delta apologised, the incident raises bigger questions about racial bias in air travel. Airlines often dismiss such complaints until they draw public attention. Respect and cultural awareness should be standard for every passenger.
Respect and Accountability
No one deserves to feel humiliated or unsafe on a flight. Soyou’s experience reflects the frustration of travellers who face prejudice and indifference from airline staff. An apology cannot undo the damage caused by discrimination.
