After the deadly mass shooting that shocked the US, residents of Maine had been living in fear as the suspect was at large. They can finally breathe a bit more comfortably because the main suspect in the shooting incident, Robert Card, was found dead Friday evening. A total of 18 people had died in one of the most tragic shooting incidents in history of the United States.
The state of Maine had been scraped up completely for the last two days for the search of the suspect. It was one of the biggest manhunts launched by the law enforcement agencies in the States. The town of Lewiston had turned into a ghost City because of the search operation. A lockdown was also imposed in the region that was lifted only hours before the suspect was found dead.
Robert Card, who was an Army Reservist, is believed to have died of self inflicted bullet injury. He wasn’t serving in any of the combat zones and had also received psychiatric treatment recently. The man had been on the loose for more than two days after killing 18 and injuring 13 and later believed to have killed himself with his own gun.
The residents of Maine felt a relief after the news of the suspect being dead came out. The news was shared by the public safety commissioner Mike Sauschuck.
