Mass Visa Rejections: Indians in Trouble

Indians are facing an increasing number of visa rejections from the UAE after they introduced stricter rules for applicants. Earlier almost all applications were approved with a 99% rate but now even properly prepared ones are being rejected due to minor flaws.

The new rules from the Middle Eastern country require hotel bookings with QR codes, confirmed return tickets, and proof of accommodation if staying with family. According to media reports, this has shot up the visa rejection rate from 1-2% to 5-6%.

Even travel agents are struggling to help their clients as complete applications with all the official documents are being denied. Many Indian families planning to travel or migrate to the Middle East are losing hefty amounts on visa fees and pre-booked tickets only to get rejected at the last moment.

An Indian travel agent shared a similar case with the media where travelers staying with relatives lost over ₹34,000, despite following the rules.

The new rules have also made it mandatory for tourist to show proof of enough money to support their stay. Applicants need at least AED 5,000 (₹1.14 lakh) in their account for a two-month visa.

These changes have left a significant portion of Indians confused and frustrated. Travelers’ plans to visit Dubai are being disrupted for no major fault of theirs.
