After crossing several hurdles, Anurag Kashyap’s Kennedy is finally set for release on ZEE5. The film was completed in 2023 and screened at multiple film festivals. It is now preparing for its OTT release in India.
In a recent interview, Anurag Kashyap spoke about Kennedy and the challenges behind making it. He also shared his views on filmmaking. The director said films should not have intervals.
Kashyap described Kennedy as a slow burn film that takes time to develop. He said the film should be experienced without interruption. According to him, it is designed as a continuous narrative journey.
He explained that the first half of Kennedy unfolds gradually. An interval, he believes, would disturb the viewing experience. He said the OTT release allows the film to remain interval free.
Kashyap further explained his broader opinion about intervals in films. He said the first half is usually meant to build the story and mood. A break in between can disrupt audience immersion.
He also said intervals often create expectations for a dramatic turning point. This can put pressure on the climax to exceed that moment. If it does not, viewers may feel disappointed.
According to Kashyap, removing intervals allows the narrative to flow naturally. He believes this creates a better cinematic experience. The story can build steadily without interruption.
While the idea of films without intervals may seem unusual to some audiences, others agree with the argument. Many feel long breaks can disturb the mood created by a film.
