However, negative word-of-mouth and harsh social media trolling led to its failure at the box office.

Despite this, Laila has locked its OTT release on both Aha and Amazon Prime Video, with reports suggesting a March 7 premiere.
This early digital release—within three weeks of its theatrical debut—could expose the film to further trolling, much like previous disasters such as Indian 2, Bhola Shankar and Game Changer.

During its theatrical run, social media had already ripped into the film, criticizing its crass humor, excessive skin show, and double-meaning dialogues. One particular scene, where Vishwak Sen runs in circles carrying Akanksha Sharma with focus on her assets, had gone viral for all the wrong reasons.
Interestingly, the intense backlash has fueled curiosity, with some audiences eager to watch the film just to see how bad it truly is.

While its theatrical run was a disaster, bad publicity might ironically boost its OTT viewership, as viewers tune in—even if just to mock and troll it and get some likes and followers on social media.
There is a dangerous trend nowadays where Vishwak Sen’s films are releasing within 2-3 weeks on OTT which shows the kind of rejection his films are facing at the box office. It’s high time he selects good scripts that would elevate him as an actor and a star.
