Taran Adarsh has spoken about the big box office clash this weekend. Seven films are releasing together. Five are in Hindi: Ek Chatur Naar, Mannu Kya Karega?, Heer Express, Jugnuma, and Love In Vietnam. From Telugu, Mirai will release, and anime fans await Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle.
According to Taran, multiple releases hurt mid-range and independent films. Word of mouth decides the final result, but divided screens and showtimes reduce profits.
He said that viewers choose one film depending on time and budget. If a film does not get a strong response, it risks being removed from theatres. Only the strongest survive beyond a week.
Taran also noted that two or three films can still pull audiences. But with four or five, it is nearly impossible for all to succeed.
The five Hindi films have created very little buzz. Many people are not even aware of them. Mirai may do well if reviews in the North Indian market are positive on opening day.
Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle may also perform strongly. It belongs to a different genre and has a loyal fan base. The week will show which films stay and which fade.
