Varun Dhawan is set to reunite with Maddock Productions, as Dinesh Vijan’s banner has reportedly offered him three new film projects. The actor now faces a tough choice between genres that could define his next career chapter.
Industry sources reveal that each script belongs to a different category, giving Varun distinct opportunities to experiment. One is a folk mythology-based horror-comedy, a genre Maddock Films has mastered with successful titles like Stree and Bhediya.
The concept reportedly mixes traditional folklore with humour and suspense, connecting strongly with urban and tier-two audiences. It also aligns well with Maddock’s recent track record in horror-comedy, a space that continues to perform well at the box office.
The second film on offer is a romantic comedy with a social message, similar to Hindi Medium and Luka Chuppi. It would give Varun a lighter, more relatable role after his recent run of action and thriller projects.
However, the most anticipated project remains Badlapur 2, the sequel to Sriram Raghavan’s 2015 revenge drama. The original earned Varun immense praise for breaking away from his commercial image and portraying a darker, more emotional character.
The idea of a sequel has floated in the industry for years but never moved forward until now. While fans hope to see him return to that intense role, reports indicate that Varun currently favours the horror-comedy, given its strong audience appeal.
An official announcement is expected in early 2026. Whichever project he chooses, this collaboration promises an exciting new phase in Varun Dhawan’s ongoing association with Maddock Films.
