The world of memes has likely manifested with great intensity, and now it seems to be becoming a reality. Oppenheimer and Japan might be closing their differences, as it is proven once again that cinema unites people.
The person who was the scientific mastermind behind the bombing of Japan’s Hiroshima and Nagasaki will be coming to theaters next year as Oppenheimer gets one more lifeline to reach the $1B mark.
The Japanese distributor, Bitters End, announced the 2024 release of a film exploring L. Robert Oppenheimer’s moral struggles with the first nuclear attack in 1945.
The decision followed discussions considering backlash in Japan, notably due to its simultaneous international release with the comedy movie Barbie in July.
Bitters End said, “The film’s subject matter is of great importance and holds special meaning for Japanese people, so we decided to release it in Japan after various discussions and considerations.”
Despite delays in certain places around the world, it became the third-highest-grossing film of the year, touching the $950M mark. But with the approaching Awards season and the Japan release, Oppenheimer might achieve the impossible.
