Dune fans will have to wait a little longer to see the second part of the epic sci-fi saga, as Warner Bros. has announced that Dune: Part Two will be delayed from October 2023 to March 2024.
The reason for the postponement is the ongoing writers’ strike, which has affected the production of many Hollywood films and TV shows. The studio wants to ensure that the sequel will have a high-quality script that will do justice to the source material and the vision of director Denis Villeneuve.
Dune: Part Two is expected to be one of the most anticipated movies of 2024, as it will continue the story of Paul Atreides, a young noble who leads a rebellion against a tyrannical empire on the desert planet Arrakis, also known as Dune.
The first part of the adaptation, which was released in 2021, received critical acclaim and commercial success, earning over $400 million at the global box office and 10 Oscar nominations, including Best Picture. It won six Oscars, including Best Sound, Best Visual Effects, Best Production Design, Best Original Score, Best Film Editing, and Best Cinematography.
