The debate around ethical use of AI in the field of entertainment has been on for quite some time now. Use of AI was one of the important issues during the Hollywood strikes and the big production houses were under heavy criticism for their proposed plans. The debate is far from over and although the strike is over, the question remains, will AI replace artists in the near future?
One of the big Hollywood actors has made a bold claim about the capabilities and intentions of these big media houses. Mark Ruffalo has accused that studios like Disney and Marvel probably have over a thousand hours of biometric information on him. All this information can be fit into a thumb drive and fed into any AI software.
Mark Ruffalo has expressed concern about how the studios use the biometric data they collect from actors, especially when AI models can reproduce desirable outcomes when fed with that data.
During the Hollywood strikes, studios came up with a plan to scan an actor for a one time payment and use their likeness to reproduce AI generated results for perpetuity. This was highly criticized at the moment and was seen as a move to replace actors with AI.
