A shocking incident unfolded at INOX R-City, Ghatkopar, during a late-night screening of Mission Impossible, leaving around 50 moviegoers frustrated, confused, and humiliated.
The 10:50 PM show never began. Patrons were made to wait for over 40 minutes with no proper communication. Repeatedly told the film would begin “in 5 minutes,” they remained seated in hope.
Finally, at around 11:30 PM, a staff member admitted that the movie wouldn’t be played, citing a “technical issue with the KDM.”
However, insiders quickly realized the truth — there was no projection operator present. Not even pre-movie advertisements, which run on a separate system, were played. The silence and blank screen said it all.
The crowd included elderly patrons, families, and couples with young children — all left staring at nothing for nearly an hour.
What added insult to injury was the manager’s indifferent attitude. With no remorse or proper explanation, he casually advised the audience to “go home and get refunds from the booking apps.”
Some people asked to cancel food orders they hadn’t consumed, but were dismissively told to “just take the popcorn home.” An elderly woman, visibly upset, called out the manager’s arrogance and insensitivity, having traveled from a distance to see the film.
This wasn’t just a technical glitch — it was a complete failure of operations, communication, and basic customer service.
A sincere apology and some accountability could have gone a long way. Instead, INOX R-City left patrons feeling humiliated, ignored, and carrying cold popcorn as compensation.
Many audience members left vowing never to return, warning others: Avoid INOX R-City — at all costs.
