After dodging all the hurdles, “Monkey Man” proved itself worthy, because it opened with $10.1M domestically.

After Netflix dropped the movie, Dev Patel exclaimed in an interview that he was nearly hopeless about the movie. But after it was adapted by Universal Pictures the ray of hope emerged, and it got a big theatrical space.

Based on Dev’s character who is a brawler fighter, who gets paid for being beaten up, gets entangled with some very nasty political issues, and later discovers the murderers of his mother and sets out on a rampage to eradicate those who gave him the wounds.

Netflix dropped this stellar movie because they understood the political undertone of the movie. But, from another point of view this sheer political undertone makes this movie more realistic to the viewers.

The John Wick fanatics loved the outcome of the movie, as it portrays similar action packed sequences.

Within 3 days the movie domesticated a total of $10.5 million. Which makes it a huge opening, of this weekend.

“Monkey Man” is ahead of the newly launched horror franchise “The First Omen”.

After overcoming all the struggles, which included losing the location, breaking cameras, shooting certain parts with a phone camera and gopro, the movie came back as a warrior.

Initially when Netflix took up the project the budget was $30 million, but after it was taken up by Universal Pictures, the budget was only $10 million dollars, with some help from Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions. So, obviously Monkey Man is on its way to make a large profit.

The strong reviews from the audience, certainly indicates the success rate of Monkey Man. It seems like Dev Patel’s hard work finally got paid off.
