Marvel Studios is gearing up for some big-screen action with The Fantastic Four and Thunderbolts. At CinemaCon, producer Kevin Feige announced that both films will be shot specifically for IMAX, just like the recent hit, Dune: Part Two.
IMAX is a special way of filming that makes movies look even more amazing on the biggest screens. It’s like being right in the middle of the action, with super-clear pictures and booming sound.
The Fantastic Four will take us back to the 1960s, and Thunderbolts has something mysterious going on with its title. Both stories could really benefit from the extra oomph that IMAX brings, making the action even more exciting and the characters even more lifelike.
After seeing how much people loved Dune: Part Two in IMAX, Marvel is taking a page from their book. By shooting for IMAX, they’re making sure fans get a great movie experience that’s bigger and better than ever before.
Will it impact the budget?
Yes. Both films will become highly expensive if the IMAX format is followed. But, given the mess Marvel has fallen itself into, they must get out of it by selling experience if not great story.
