Baahubali 2 remains a landmark in Indian cinema, holding the title of the highest-grossing Indian film for almost eight years. That record was broken last year by Allu Arjun’s Pushpa: The Rule, which collected ₹1,374 crore only ₹30 crore more than Baahubali 2.
Now, the Baahubali saga is set for a grand return. The film is getting a massive re-release across India this week, and excitement is already sky-high. Pre-sales for the opening weekend have crossed ₹6 crore even before bookings opened for the dubbed versions in Hindi, Tamil, and Malayalam.
Unlike most Telugu re-releases that run briefly, Baahubali is expected to enjoy a longer theatrical run. Its Hindi version’s performance will be key strong numbers there could lift the film’s lifetime total to new heights.
This isn’t just a re-release of Baahubali 2; it’s a special combined cut featuring both Baahubali films. Later, the collections may be split between the two parts for official records.
Surpassing Pushpa 2’s numbers looks within reach, but crossing Dangal still India’s top grosser by about ₹170 crore will be a tough climb. To do that, Baahubali would need major overseas success in markets like the US and Japan.
Still, one truth stands tall: Baahubali is more than a film it’s a phenomenon. Its re-release shows that cinematic legends never fade. They rise again.
