Rajinikanth’s Dharman has been making headlines ever since its first poster was released. The film has now found itself at the centre of fresh speculation after social media posts claimed that it is adapted from the popular BBC series, The Good Doctor.
The rumours gained attention after a post alleged that Raaj Kamal Films International had acquired the remake rights to the series. The post also featured Rajinikanth‘s look from Dharman, leading many online users to believe there could be some truth to the claim.
Director Ashwath Marimuthu has now responded to the reports and dismissed them completely. He described the allegations as fake news and clarified that the rumours were false. The original social media post that sparked the speculation has also been removed.
The issue triggered mixed reactions across social media. While some users continued to believe the rumours, others rejected them, saying Rajinikanth is unlikely to take up such a remake. Several fans also argued that the claims were intended to create unnecessary controversy around the film.
Some fans suggested that the speculation may have started because Rajinikanth’s look in Dharman reminded people of The Good Doctor. Others criticised the source that first shared the claim, accusing it of spreading misinformation to attract attention.
A section of fans believes the controversy could ultimately benefit Dharman by increasing public curiosity. They also feel it may indirectly help Jailer 2, which is expected to release this year. Whether the speculation translates into stronger audience interest at the box office remains to be seen.
