Director Jeethu Joseph has officially confirmed that Drishyam 3, starring Mohanlal, will release in theatres in the first week of April 2026. The announcement came soon after the film wrapped shooting, putting an end to months of speculation among fans of the franchise.
Jeethu Joseph shared the update during a hospital inauguration event. He also urged audiences to watch the film without carrying heavy expectations. According to him, the Drishyam legacy creates pressure, and a clear mindset helps viewers enjoy the story better.
The Malayalam version will arrive nearly six months before the Hindi remake starring Ajay Devgn, which is scheduled for October 2, 2026. Earlier reports hinted at a simultaneous release, but that plan has been dropped. October 2 still remains symbolically important due to its link to Gandhi Jayanti in the Drishyam storyline.
The Telugu version of Drishyam 3 was initially planned after Venkatesh completed Trivikram’s film AK 47. At the time, the remake seemed like a logical extension of the successful Telugu Drishyam franchise and had generated early interest.
Now, uncertainty surrounds the Telugu remake. With the Malayalam Drishyam 3 releasing first and likely streaming soon after, most South Indian audiences will already know the twists. This reduces curiosity for a direct Telugu version.
Because of this, a straightforward remake may not be viable. Unless the makers significantly rework the script and present a fresh narrative, the project carries risk. As things stand, Telugu Drishyam 3 may face delays, major changes, or be quietly shelved.
