In recent years, the issue of ticket price hikes for new movie releases has been a hot topic of discussion in both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
Initially, it was the Telangana government that would announce the ticket rate increases, with the Andhra Pradesh government following suit.
Over time, however, the trend shifted, and Telangana often led the way in announcing ticket price hikes. Now, as we approach the upcoming Sankranti festival, things have taken an interesting turn.
This year, three major films—Game Changer starring Ram Charan, Daaku Maharaaj with Balakrishna, and Sankranthiki Vasthunnam featuring Venkatesh—are set to release.
These films have stirred up excitement in Tollywood, and producers are considering raising ticket prices to make the most of the anticipated demand.
The latest reports suggest that the Andhra Pradesh government has already approved new ticket prices for these films.
According to the new rates, Game Changer is expected to see an additional charge of Rs. 135 to Rs. 175 for its first week. For Daaku Maharaaj, the increase will range from Rs. 110 to Rs. 135, while Sankranthiki Vasthunnam will see an increase of Rs. 75 to Rs. 100.
Additionally, there are talks of the government allowing benefit shows, but they will be limited in number.
While the Andhra Pradesh government has already made its decision, the situation in Telangana remains uncertain.
In the past, the Telangana government had given a lifetime order allowing ticket rates to go as high as Rs. 395, so the industry is waiting to see how the state will approach ticket pricing this time.
As Sankranti draws near, moviegoers and industry insiders alike are eager to see how both states will navigate the issue of ticket price hikes for the much-awaited releases.
