According to the makers, Kalki 2898 AD has grossed Rs 1000 crore at the worldwide box office. Following this achievement, director Nag Ashwin shared an Instagram story expressing his gratitude to his team.
In this now-deleted post, Ashwin seemingly took a swipe at Animal, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga. He highlighted that Kalki 2898 AD succeeded without resorting to blood, gore, obscenity, or provocative content.

This has led to an online clash between fans of Animal and Kalki. Supporters of Vanga argue that Kalki’s success was due to its substantial budget of 600 crore, a star-studded cast, and a unique mix of religious themes and a futuristic setting.

Amid all the drama on social media, a clip of Sandeep Reddy Vanga is going viral where he mentions in an interview that he would have approached Nag Ashwin’s film Mahanati differently.
Vanga stated he would have added more emotions, melancholy, and tragedy to the film. While he didn’t directly criticize Nag Ashwin’s work, he suggested that his version would have elevated the film to the next level, as that is his strong zone.
