OG: North America Trajectory Not Looking Good!

OG box office North America update

Pawan Kalyan’s OG opened strong in North America pulling in $3.6 million from premieres plus day one. Interestingly, a majority of this came even before the official premiere shows began, thanks to the massive hype surrounding the film.

The next two days held steady, showing decent footing if not a massive pull. Premiers + Day1 collected $3.6 Million, Day two (Friday) collected $534K and day three (Saturday) added another $515K. However, Sunday saw a steep drop ($245K). The trend clearly showed where the film was heading.

On the first Monday, the U.S. distributor enabled all theater passes pricing across all major chains—AMC, Cinemark, and Regal. This is usually a red flag. Once passes are active, tickets are sold at very low rates, and with subscription passes, the distributor only makes around $2–$3 per ticket.

What’s more worrying is Monday’s collection. By 10 p.m. EST, the film had only made $70K, indicating it may not even cross $100K for the day. Tuesday could offer a temporary boost since it is “deals day” in the U.S., but beyond that, the outlook is grim.

Adding to the pressure, Kantara: Chapter 1 premieres on Wednesday, which will likely split the audience further. Unless OG sees a miraculous turnaround or the passes strategy provides unexpected relief, the rest of this week will be extremely crucial for its second-week run.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen such a pattern. Many films open with big hype, but when the content is average and word of mouth isn’t strong enough, distributors are forced to enable pauses by the first Monday. As a result, the second weekend often turns into a token run. We’ll have to wait and see where OG finally lands.
