The art of making mythological films that require big production and extensive visual enhancement has been almost exclusively reserved for the likes of Rajamouli.
Recently released trailer for Ramayana, which was amplified with so much marketing and hype could not create the right kind of emotion that was expected of it.
The legendary tale of Prabhu Sri Ram was always expected to be an absolute classic. But this was not utilised and presented to the fullest capacity by the makers of this Ranbir Kapoor and Yash film.
The fundamental factor here is that the people have already seen Prabhu Sri Ram as an earnest boy of a legendary king and his tenacity to stick to his word beyond anything. This format has been applied on the Indian audience for decades now.
The one thing that has been missing is the portrayal of Ram as a warrior king who was absolutely untouchable in the war, and his aura was far to superior. This is the kind of touch that the current generation audience are craving for in theatres, and this would ultimately present Lord Ram in a completely new mechanism as well.
This is the code that not many directors could crack in the recent past. This is precisely where a legendary film maker like Rajamouli can come in and create the desired impact.
Beyond the mythological boundaries, Rajamouli knows how to add the perfect meter of commercial elements, and this is what sets him apart from the rest.
We have arrived at a point with the audience need more of the unseen side of Prabhu Ram than the actual story side of things that was consumed by the Indian folk for many decades.
