In recent times, one common complaint about several Telugu films has been their weak second halves.
The same talk was heard around films such as Maa Inti Bangaram, Chennai Love Story, Korean Kanakaraju and a few others. Interestingly, despite these concerns, most of these films managed to survive and put up decent numbers at the box office.
But now, there seems to be a change in the pre-release talk. Ravi Teja’s Irumudi, which is releasing on August 21, is reportedly receiving positive feedback for its second half.
If these reports are true, it could be a huge advantage for the film. A strong first half can create excitement, but the second half usually decides how audiences feel when they leave the theatre.
When the second half delivers the emotions, thrills and payoff promised by the first half, the overall experience becomes much stronger. Audiences mostly recommend a film when they leave the theatre satisfied instead of feeling that it lost steam in the second half.
This could be particularly important for Ravi Teja, who has been waiting for a genuine box office success for quite some time. He has almost lost his credibility among audiences due to a string of back-to-back terrible and disastrous films.
If Irumudi’s second half really delivers a satisfying experience, it could mark the beginning of Ravi Teja’s resurgence at the box office. After several setbacks, the Mass Maharaja badly needs a film that reminds audiences why they once loved watching him on the big screen.
Of course, this is still based on early reports, and the real verdict will come only after audiences watch the film. But for a change, hearing “the second half is good” before a Telugu film’s release is certainly a positive sign.
