Legendary filmmaker Singeetam Srinivasa Rao’s 61st film, Sing Geetham, is now getting ready for its OTT release after almost completing its theatrical run.

Produced by Nag Ashwin, this musical fantasy will reportedly premiere on Netflix on July 9, 2026. The film was released only in Telugu and Tamil in theatres, but the OTT version will be available in four languages: Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam.

Nag Ashwin has also revealed that the OTT version will come with a few technical refinements, which means viewers may get a slightly improved experience compared to the theatrical cut.

For those who missed it in theatres, Sing Geetham is set in a village where a mystical event changes the lives of the people and makes them express every emotion through song. It is a fantasy musical, a genre that is very rarely attempted in Indian cinema, and that itself makes the film stand out.

The film stars Ayaan, Ahilya Bamroo, Shalini Kondepudi, and Nivetha Pethuraj play important parts. Vijay Deverakonda also appears in a special cameo, and Devi Sri Prasad has composed the music.

At the box office, Sing Geetham had only a modest run and reportedly collected around Rs. 8 crores gross worldwide. Its theatrical performance was limited, and the film was also affected by Samantha’s Maa Inti Bangaaram wave at the box office.

But this is also the kind of film that perhaps should not be judged only by its theatrical numbers.

A film directed by Singeetam Srinivasa Rao, especially one built around such a rare and imaginative idea, deserves to be looked at beyond just box office success or failure. Some films are made for instant commercial impact. Some are made because the filmmaker still wants to experiment and create something unusual even at this stage of his career.

That is why the OTT release becomes important for Sing Geetham.

The theatrical run may not have done justice to the film’s ambition, but OTT gives it a second life. It now remains to be seen how the home audience reacts to this unusual musical fantasy from one of Indian cinema’s most respected filmmakers.
