Yami Gautam and Aditya Dhar, after the success of “URI: The Surgical Strike,” are collaborating on “Article 370,” directed by Aditya Jambhale. The film delves into the decision to revoke the special status of Jammu & Kashmir, certified U/A by the Central Board of Film Certification, running for 2 hours and 40 minutes.
Scheduled for release in 1500 cinema halls across 2000 screens in India, “Article 370” has garnered significant attention, fueled by a compelling trailer that has piqued audience interest.
While centered on Kashmir, the film tackles sensitive issues, aligning with the trend of successful post-pandemic films addressing socio-political themes and praising the Modi government. PM Modi also recently promoted this film during one of his speeches.
With tickets priced at a flat ₹99 and endorsements from PM Modi boosting anticipation, advance bookings indicate promising numbers. The film’s early booking figures surpass those of many Akshay Kumar films like Mission Ranigunj and Selfiee, hinting at a potential opening around 4-5 crore nett, marking a significant achievement.
For context, “The Kashmir Files” opened at 3.36 crore net, and “The Kerala Story” at 6.75 crore net. While it’s certain “Article 370” will lead the box office this week, the real question is will it get the same appreciation from its target audience and become the unexpected blockbuster of 2024?
