On the other hand, out of 25 Lok Sabha seats, the alliance won 21 while YCP secured victory in four constituencies.

However, TDP and Jana Sena missed a golden opportunity to easily win 24 out of 25 seats by joining hands with the BJP. The alliance with BJP had cost them those three seats.

As part of the alliance, BJP was given six Lok Sabha seats to contest. Out of those six, BJP won three and lost three. On the other hand, TDP and JSP managed to win 18 of the 19 constituencies they contested.

According to the analysis of the voting, most of the Dalit and Minority votes went to YCP in the Lok Sabha seats where BJP contested.

In Rajampeta, BJP’s candidate Kiran Kumar Reddy lost to YCP’s PV Midhun Reddy by 76,061 votes. In this parliamentary constituency, the alliance’s MLA candidates got 20,973 more votes than Kiran Kumar Reddy. A total of 97,034 cross-votes were registered here.

In Araku, BJP’s Kothapally Geetha lost to YCP’s Thanuja Rani by 50,580 votes. Alliance MLA candidates in this constituency got 32,862 more votes than Geetha, with 83,442 cross-votes registered here.

In Tirupati, YCP’s Gurumoorthy won against BJP’s Vara Prasad Rao with a majority of 14,569 votes. In this constituency, alliance MLA candidates got 1,91,888 more votes than Vara Prasad, with a mammoth cross-voting of 2,06,457.

Cross-voting was also seen in constituencies where BJP won. In Rajahmundry, Daggubati Purandeshwari won by 2,39,139 votes. The alliance MLA candidates in this Lok Sabha constituency got 2,84,427 more votes than her, with 45,288 cross-votes registered.

In Narasapuram, Srinivas Varma won by 2,76,802 votes. Alliance MLA candidates in this Lok Sabha region got 4,02,601 more votes than him, with cross-voting of 1,25,799 votes.

In Anakapalle, CM Ramesh won by a majority of 296,530 votes. Alliance candidates in this region won 3,35,207 more votes than him, resulting in a cross-voting of 38,677 votes.

Overall, in these six constituencies, the number of votes that went to the alliance MLA candidates but didn’t go to BJP MP candidates was 5,96,697. On average, one lakh votes went to the other side in each constituency.

In that way, BJP helped Jagan in winning three Lok Sabha seats. If TDP and JSP had contested without allying with the BJP, they would have easily won 24 Lok Sabha seats in these elections.
