India continues to witness major technological progress driven by public sector companies. Inspired by Prime Minister Modi’s Make in India initiative, organisations are introducing new breakthroughs across industries.
After Zoho’s recent launch to rival Microsoft Excel, BSNL has now unveiled a game-changing feature making phone calls without a mobile network.
This doesn’t mean the end of mobile networks, but BSNL’s new VoWiFi (Voice over WiFi) technology allows users to make voice calls even when there’s no cellular signal.
The service is expected to be a major relief for people living in remote areas, those affected by natural disasters, and anyone unable to afford regular mobile network charges. With just WiFi, users can stay connected for free.
Currently, BSNL’s VoWiFi service is being tested in southern and western regions and will soon roll out nationwide. Like other telecom providers, users will need WiFi access but not a cellular connection.
Alongside this, BSNL has launched its 4G services across India and introduced eSIM features in Mumbai and Tamil Nadu. The only requirement for VoWiFi is a smartphone, as both Android and iPhone devices already have the feature built into their settings.
The VoWiFi service is completely free, designed to improve connectivity and provide uninterrupted voice calls without extra cost to users.
